How it works

The translator runs GoePT-1-20M, an open model trained to translate German into Alman. It scores 86.8 % on AlmanBench, the project’s acceptance benchmark.

The model is downloaded once and cached by your browser. Text is translated sentence by sentence, and a sentence the model cannot handle safely, for example one that is far too long, is left unchanged.

The same model powers Almanpedia, which translates German Wikipedia articles into Alman as you read them. Translations are machine output and can contain mistakes. The specification is the reference for Alman grammar.
